SPRING COLOR TRENDS
Although the weather may still be grey and dreary, spring is just around the corner, and with spring comes the jump from winter’s cozy neutrals to a rainbow palette of bright pastels. Keep reading to find out which colors to stock up on this season.
I Love Lilac
This year, lilac purple is one of the standout colors of the season. In the summer of 2020, Vogue France published an article titled “Why the Color Purple is Set to Dethrone Pink,” and it couldn’t be more true. Charming, soothing, and often described as a color that signifies wealth and good fortune, it makes sense why purple’s popularity continues to skyrocket as we launch into 2021. The Vogue article focused on a more jewel-toned amethyst for fall and winter, but the trend has shifted to a lighter and more playful hue for the warmer months.

Another color to look out for is yellow. Cheerful, optimistic, and a springtime classic, it’s no surprise that sunny yellow is a core color of this spring’s color wheel. In fact, Pantone named their yellow in the shade “Illuminating” as one of the shades of the year.
“It’s aspirational,” said Pantone’s executive director, Leatrice Eiseman. “We’re not there yet, but we’re aiming for that. We’re trying to get there. When the grey clouds disperse, we see the sunshine.”

Mint green made its trend debut in the winter of 2020, and continues to remain a popular staple as we move into the spring season. This color popped up alongside lilac purple and yellow in Versace’s Resort 2021 line, as well as amongst several ready-to-wear lines of the season. Additionally, Marie Claire named this shade as one of the “Spring 2021 Colors You’re going to See Everywhere.” Crisp and refreshing, this muted shade of green is at once sophisticated and avant-garde.

The Happy Blues
The next color trend of the season is cerulean blue. Described by Pantone as “the color of the sky on a serene, crystal clear day,” this shade goes hand-in-hand with the optimism driving the colors of this season. Dreamy and universally flattering, this color begs to be worn in shiny silks and draping fabrics.

Finally, juicy “raspberry sorbet”-- as it's been named by Pantone-- adds vibrance to this season’s color trends. Passionate and eye-catching, this rich shade of pink is a staple in Isabel Marant’s spring 2021 ready-to-wear collection. Take a page out of Marant’s book and dress in head-to-toe cranberry to stand out amongst the classic palette of spring pastels, whether it’s a matching sweatshirt and sweatpants or a blazer set.
